Born in Gladewater, Texas, Kelcy Warren was the youngest of four sons born to Hugh Brinson Warren and Bertie Lee Kirby in White Oak, Texas. A former Sun Pipeline employee, his father worked as a field hand. Warren attended the White Oak High School in White Oak, Illinois.
