James Thurston Nabors was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on June 12 in 1930. He was the son of Fred Nabors and Mavis Pearl. Nabors father used to be a police officer. He grew up with his two older sisters Freddie and Annie Ruth.
Nabors was into music and acting from his childhood. He loved to sing songs and play musical instruments. Nabors used to go to a local school where he first started his singing career. Besides being a member of the school musical group Nabors also sang for his church.
After completing the high school graduation Nabors admitted into the University of Alabama. While he was in university, Nabors stared acting in sketches comedy and he became the member of an International Fraternity called Delta Tau Delta.
