Early life and Education
He was born to a Jewish family in Budapest in Hungary. As at that time the Hungarian Jewish community was facing the crisis of war raising him was a big challenge for parents Elizabeth and Tivadar. Disguising their Jewish background his father Tivadar changed their surname from the German-Jewish Schwartz to Soros. During the Nazi occupation, they purchased some documents for establishing their Christian identity.
In 1947 Soros migrated to England and enrolled as a student of philosophy at the London School of Economics. He was influenced by the writings of the philosopher Karl Proper and studied under his guidance. From this institution, he completed his Bachelor of Science in 1951, and in 1954 he was graduated with a Master of Science in philosophy.
